Just wanted to pass along that Dr. Owen said we do not need to memorize the equation to find 90%, 95%, and 99% confidence intervals. We also do not need to memorize the equation for moderate and extreme outliers. He said he sees no value in making us memorize something we can look up.

Theres a function that makes confidence intervals much easier:

=CONFIDENCE(a,b,c) a is the alpha (if it's 90% confidence, a would be .10), b is the standard deviation, and c is the number of samples.
